surgical care

As a surgical eye center, we perform procedures on the anterior segment of the eye on both an outpatient and inpatient basis. These include the treatment of cataracts, macular degeneration, glaucoma, and intravitreal medication administration to the eye.

cataract surgery

A cataract is the clouding of the originally clear lens of the eye, usually as we age. This results in a significant reduction in vision. If left untreated, the condition or clouding usually continues to worsen.

If you have been diagnosed with an advanced form of cataract, in most cases only cataract surgery will help.

This is the most commonly performed operation in Germany, is largely safe and low-risk for you and leads to a significant improvement in vision. By inserting an artificial lens that is precisely tailored to you, we try to enable and maintain the best possible result for you.

Laser cataract surgery with the Nanolaser

The nanolaser is the latest development in the field of cataract surgery to remove the natural lens of the eye. Using ultra-short laser pulses in the nanosecond range, the natural lens can be liquefied and sucked out without thermal stress on the eye.

Laser lens surgery achieves a high level of precision and safety through the use of the nanolaser. The nanolaser offers a great advantage in terms of hygiene safety through the use of disposable probes.

Intravitreal drug administration

Intravitreal surgical drug administration (IVOM) is an additional treatment option for various diseases affecting the interior of the eye.

Of particular note here is age-associated maculopathy (AMD), but changes caused by diabetes, inflammation or vascular occlusions are also included.

In this case, coordinated medications are injected into your eye at certain intervals (usually monthly, later longer intervals until the treatment is completed) until a stabilization or improvement of vision is achieved.

IVOMs have been carried out successfully in our practice for many years.

Microinvasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS)

An iStent is one millimeter long, 0.33 millimeters high and weighs 60 micrograms. In MIGS, the iStent is used to create a connection between the anterior chamber of the eye (between the cornea and pupil) and the natural drainage path of the aqueous humor, the so-called Schlemm's canal. After the first clinical experiences were gained by inserting iStents during cataract surgery, the small implants are now also inserted independently of other interventions using an injector.

Lidchirurgie

Interventions in the area of the eyelids and the adjacent facial skin include medical and cosmetic operations. On the one hand, there are illnesses such as misalignments, inflammations or benign and malignant tumors that require treatment. On the other hand, aesthetically disturbing changes to the eyelids are reasons for surgical treatment. For larger interventions, we work closely with selected eyelid specialists to whom we refer patients if necessary.
